Crossed circles forming open hearts
XOXO is a sculpture composed of two intersecting circles that form open hearts. Conceived during the 2020 lockdown, the piece incorporates the commonly used text message letters XOXO (hugs and kisses), transforming them into three-dimensional space to manifest as open hearts. This traveling installation is designed for public spaces, inviting people to step inside and have their photo taken, framed by a heart.
This public art project won a New York Council of the Arts Grant in 2022 in collaboration with New York Artist Equity Association and was fabricated in my studio in 2023. XOXO was exhibited in Nolan Park, Governors Island, NY, from May 2023 to April 2024, and is currently on display at Morningside Park, New York, NY, until October 2024 as part of the Harlem Sculpture Gardens initiative.
